Keep a local copy of SharePoint with your normal Microsoft sign-in
Many sync tools need an app registration in your organization’s Microsoft 365 tenant, which an administrator has to approve. ShareClone signs in the way your browser does, through your organization’s own Microsoft login, so it works with the account you already have.
How the sign-in works
When ShareClone needs to sign in, it opens a built-in window that uses Apple’s WebKit. The window shows your organization’s own Microsoft sign-in page, with your single sign-on and multi-factor checks. You type your credentials only into that Microsoft page. ShareClone never sees your password.
ShareClone does not need an app registration or administrator consent. It can only see what your own account is allowed to see in SharePoint.
Where the session is kept
The session ShareClone uses is kept in the macOS Keychain. The sign-in window’s own on-device storage remembers your Microsoft login, so you are not asked for MFA every time. Nothing about your sign-in is sent to us.
When the session expires
The library shows “Sign in again”. A sync you start yourself can open the sign-in window. Automatic syncs, at launch, after the Mac wakes or from Sync All, never open a window on their own: they end with “Sign in again” and notify you if notifications are on. Files you already downloaded stay where they are, and the sync continues after you sign in.
What ShareClone does and does not do
ShareClone only reads from SharePoint. It never uploads, edits or deletes anything in SharePoint. It talks only to your organization’s own SharePoint and Microsoft sign-in, and to Apple for purchases.
Your organization’s policies still apply, and some organizations restrict downloading company data. Check yours before you keep a local copy.
